If you want to ensure that there is triumphant communication within a group, then you need to enhance your communication skills. Speaking in front of an audience can be fun only if you are well prepared. Here are some techniques that will be useful when you are trying to improve your public speaking skills.

You need to make eye contact. Not only will this signify your interest, but it will also show your desire to be credible and honest.

To communicate your message, posture and gesture are also effective ways.

You need to dress appropriately. Another important thing to consider is how you look. Dignity and respect is the message that your appearance should convey.

Being conscious of other people's space.

Make sure that your message is straightforward and understandable. The phrase "less is more" would be helpful in this case. Clarity affects all areas of your message which is why it's important. Try not to use jargons. Your audience should understand that words that you are using.

Have you figured out why "less is more?" First and obvious, is to avoid information overload. Great concentration is involved in speaking. Chances are, your audience will not listen to you anymore if you provide too much information. Next, your audience will be able to understand and acknowledge what you are saying because of clarity and pausing.

You should be prepared. Keep in mind the 6 W's: Who? Find out your audience's age, gender, and interest in order for you to classify them.

The question "what." What are the topics that you would like to discuss? When you get an invitation to speak in public, usually you should follow their theme and purpose.

Answering the question "how." Find out how you can communicate your message. Other important things to consider are language and non-verbal cues. Proper choice of words helps your audiences understand you better.

Answering the question "when." You need to obtain a logical timing of your discussion. When necessary, learn how to pause.

Answering the question "where." If you have time, visit the area where you will conduct your speech. Determine the best seating arrangement according to the type of your audience. You also need to consider the temperature, space and lighting conditions of the area. By visiting the area, you will also be able to determine where the visual aid can be placed.

Answering the question "why." You can convey the advantage and purpose the will gain if you can get them to listen to you. Preparing a list objectives can help you narrow down the key points you need to emphasize.

Do not overwhelm your audience with numbers and statistics. For easy reference in the future, you can put this information in handouts.

To support your message, use visual aids.

Establishing dialogue and rapport is also important. Your audience should be allowed to participate in the discussion. Calling your audience by their names also allows you to create rapport.
