A Few Simple Guidelines for Guest Blogging

By Sabrina Rodriquez

Our informal estimate is that a very small percentage of internet marketers take full advantage of all there is available with guest blogging. If you take your time and execute this properly, there is huge potential for branding yourself in your market. We will shed some light on the method of guest blogging, and you can continue learning or jump right into it; as you please.

Following Up Afterward: Getting a guest post published is only the first step. You want to be available to readers of your posts and start some dialogues with them. Don't think of your posts as a one way process of you talking to readers, but try to make it more interactive and encourage responses. Read through any comments you get carefully, and take the time to reply, as this is how you build connections with people. Think of your original post as a seed that you nurture and hopefully it will grow into something larger if you give it enough attention. Make sure you get e-mail notifications when someone posts to the topic you started. You can spread the word about your post even further by sharing it on social sites like Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, Delicious and any others you like to use.

Analyze Your Data: When you're a guest blogger, you have the opportunity to learn a great deal about blogging and online marketing in general. You get to see and understand how your target audience reacts to your content and if they are convinced by your posts. To get the most out of your guest post, pay attention to any noticeable results that come about from it, such as readers commenting on the post, subscribing to your feed, checking out your own blog and anything else you observe. If your guest post didn't work the way you envisioned it, then you may want to look into it and try to analyze what went wrong. Plan on writing many more guest blogs in the future, and each time you can use the knowledge you gained from your previous effort.

You may discover that some people want to see prior work or if you have guest posted on other blogs, so of course you should offer that up. If you do not have anything at all to show them, then write some articles and publish them in trusted sites. Never worry about if you are not known in your market because you can do this as long as you have good content that is well-written.

Guest blogging has many advantages, and the best way to learn about them is to get started and submit some posts to blogs in your niche.
